The German Cross and Eagle Flag was the flag of the short lived Nazi Ministry of War. In 1935, the German Ministry of Defense was renamed the Ministry of War. The first Nazi Minister of War and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces was Field Marshal General Werner von Blomberg. Von Blomberg held this position until 1938, when Adolf Hitler removed him from office and abolished the Ministry of War which was replaced by the Wehrmacht High Command.
